They chose the wrong actor to play Magnum. Higgins as a woman and...SPOILER ALERT...former MI6 agent? Perfect. The other characters and the setting? Good. Without a proper main character though, this show won't survive. How about bringing in Magnum's "brother" to save the show? Jay Hernandez will not survive this show and he is going to drag it down with him.

First off, MAGNUM PI was and is the best tv series ever! Thanks to Tom Selleck, John Hillerman, Larry Manetti and Roger Mosley.... as well as the entire cast, crew and writers.... and the input of Donald Bellisario. NOBODY can replace them. But, I watched the first episode, mentally projecting the original cast instead of these current wanna-bes. If only..... Like another reiewer said, if you can forget the existence of the original, it might be passable.... If only....

They ruined a great show by attempting to remake it! First, they ruined title theme, next destroyed two Ferrari’s in ONE show. Folks there is only ONE Magnum P.I., he is Tom Selleck. End of discussion.

Wow, this would not even fly as a caricature of the original. All the emotional nuance is sucked out, or perhaps never there. Does not even work as a caricature of the origin.

A touch overwrought and a little too punny but is still great to see Magnum, Rick, TC and Higgins back again! The second show was better than the first. Hopefully this show will continue to evolve and hit its stride returning to the glory days of old!

There is no replacement for the original, but the attractive and intelligent woman version of the original Higgins is the hidden gem. True genious. Also, the Navy SEAL spin is spot on for flavour. Nicely done.
  • A little soon to be too critical!

I am a big fan of the original series. That being said the new re-boot certainly can’t touch the original series but it has paid It a bit of homage. The intro, the Ferrari, the dogs, the team ring, even theMilitary background all seem to fit well, even his thinking conversations with the audience. A few things missing which I hope will show up: The lap swimming in the tidal pool. Magnum always did his best problem solving there. Also that one on one look and comment from Magnum to the audience. I like how they have made the connection with Hawaii Five-0 (the medical examine).I think there might be a few crossover episodes of the two shows if this show holds together.I figure it’s going to take a few episodes till I see how the characters develop together before I get too critical.

Wilmer Valderrama should have been cast in the magnum role. He has the charm, wit, and charisma that the role demands. Jay Henderson is utterly boring and lacking in personality.
  • Bad idea Hollywood

So is this Hollywoods attempt to get back at Tom Selleck for his conservative stance on some issues they don't like? Cause it certainly is odd that a short hispanic would play a 6'4" person..and a woman to play Higgins..social engineering is so transparent and obvious, they must think people are stupid. These retro retries are an good example of the lack of talent in Hollywood..can't come up with anythig original anymore..just more political junk. One good thing Magnum PI the original and best is now finally available on iTunes

When I saw they were doing a reboot for Magnum P.I. I was thrilled and so excited. I know it would be hard to be just as good as the original as Tom Selleck did a fine job but this reboot so far has been horrible to watch. I watched it over like 3 times trying to find a way I could like it but it falls short and is just a disappointment. Its not funny and the acting is horrible! Some person wanted to compare this to Hawaii Five O reboot but Hawaii Five O is way way better and is almost as good as the orginal. I would not be suprised if this reboot gets the boot here very soon as I know the number of views was really low!
